Pleased to share this with my rpg slack for the V:TM content.

Strongly agree on genre shifts as a way to show the supernatural (good or bad). All dance breaks are this to me.

1. MAN I wish there were any (good, important, meaningful) art about the 2002 Beltway sniper attacks. I recognize that children weren't the main targets, but I was eleven years old when it all took place and so it's hard to disconnect that particular fear from the historical event.

2. The sudden tone shift in First Reformed is another great example of… well, certainly a spiritualized SOMETHING being depicted in film effectively.

Hm, you know, I don't even think of First Reformed as shifting tone THAT dramatically, but that may be because I was a deeply unsympathetic audience for that movie....
